Kenya bat in battle for bragging rights

The Associates in Group A have been no match for the bigger teams so far, with both Canada and Kenya losing all three of their games. This encounter at Feroz Shah Kotla offers a chance for what could be the only win of the campaign for both sides, adding interest to what is a low-profile affair.

Kenya won the toss and chose to bat on what is expected to be a slow and low pitch. Their batting hasn't fired so far, and their captain Jimmy Kamande wanted the team to play out 50 overs. They made a couple of changes to the XI that went down to Sri Lanka, bringing back Thomas Odoyo for Peter Ongondo, and replacing left-arm spinner Shen Ngoche by his brother James, an offspinner.

Canada also made some changes, dropping the youngest player in the tournament, Nitish Kumar, and bringing in the oldest John Davison. Also, left-arm spinner Parth Desai will make his World Cup debut, taking the place of Khurram Chohan.

Canada had the better of Kenya in the three most recent completed matches between the two sides, but Kenya won both clashes between the two in World Cups.

Canada: 1 John Davison, 2 Ruvindu Gunasekera, 3 Ashish Bagai (capt & wk), 4 Zubin Surkari, 5 Rizwan Cheema, 6 Jimmy Hansra, 7 Tyson Gordon, 8 Henry Osinde, 9 Harvir Baidwan, 10 Balaji Rao, 11 Parth Desai.

Kenya: 1 Maurice Ouma (wk), 2 Seren Waters, 3 Collins Obuya, 4 Steve Tikolo, 5 David Obuya, 6 Tanmay Mishra, 7 Jimmy Kamande (capt), 8 Thomas Odoyo, 9 Nehemiah Odhiambo, 10 James Ngoche, 11 Elijah Otieno.
