New Zealand stand-in captain Brendon McCullum won the toss and elected to bat against Australia in the final of the ICC Champions Trophy at Centurion, on Monday.
New Zealand were a dealt a big blow before the start of the title clash when captain Daniel Vettori was ruled out of the match with an injury. New Zealand's injury woes continued in the tournament as Vettori had to miss out after pulling a hamstring. He was replaced by off-spinner Jeetan Patel.
World champions Australia opted to go in with an unchanged line-up that beat England by nine wickets in their semi-final.
