Sri Lanka play three spinners and bat

On a hot humid day in Colombo, Kumar Sangakkara won an important toss and chose to bat on a dry pitch in the big encounter against Australia.

Sri Lanka made one change, bringing in Rangana Herath for Nuwan Kulasekara. "It's not a reflection of him," Sangakkara said at the toss. "We know Kulasekara is a champion; this change is just for this game and this pitch."

Australia went in with an unchanged team, and Ricky Ponting said the pitch looked dry and admitted that it was a bat-first wicket.

Australia: 1 Shane Watson, 2 Brad Haddin (wk), 3 Ricky Ponting (capt), 4 Michael Clarke, 5 David Hussey, 6 Cameron White, 7 Steve Smith, 8 Mitchell Johnson, 9 Jason Krezja, 10 Brett Lee, 11 Shaun Tait.

Sri Lanka: 1 Tillakaratne Dilshan, 2 Upul Tharanga, 3 Kumar Sangakkara (capt & wk), 4 Mahela Jayawardene, 5 Thilan Samaraweera, 6 Angelo Mathews, 7 Chamara Silva, 8 Rangana Herath 9 Lasith Malinga, 10 Ajantha Mendis, 11 Muttiah Muralitharan
