Some stories are told forever, they just don't fade away with time. Sachin Tendulkar is one such story who just keeps getting better with every passing year.
The colossus is now in his 21st year of international cricket, his contemporaries have long since bid adieu from the game, but there is no stopping Sachin as he turns 37 on Saturday with his team Mumbai Indians raring to go for IPL glory against the Chennai Super Kings.
Though a day late, but an IPL triumph on Sunday will be the perfect gift for Tendulkar.
The master blaster has continued to astound every one with what he can do with a cricket bat in his hands, but the last season has been extra special. No one can forget this heart-breaking innings against Australia in Hyderabad where he waged a lone battle in a marathon 175 that took India to within sniffing distance of an unlikely win.
But if that riased the bar then the incredible innings against South Africa at Gwalior was the the crowning glory. Tendulkar became the first man to score 200 runs in an innings in an ODI game.
One runs out of adjectives when it comes to Tendulkar in Test cricket. Five hundreds in seven Tests this year at an average of 84, two of those coming against South Africa in a battle for the number one Test ranking.
And of late the master has shown that he has rules in all formats of the game. He has been the talisman that has taken Mumbai Indians to the finals of IPL 3 for the first time ever. Tendulkar leads the batting charts, showing once again that T20 isn't just a young man's game.
As Sachin Tendulkar turns a year older, CricketNext wishes the little master a very happy birthday. May the star continue to burn bright.
